Damaged modules in the BMW 26Ah 8612163 battery are becoming an increasingly common fault. In the initial production phase, 26Ah cell blocks were fitted, used among others in the BMW G11, G20, G30, F15, F30, F45, and Mini Cooper. The manufacturer knew these cells had their weaknesses, as shown by a service campaign for these batteries. These are BMW models from the PHEV plug-in line, i.e. vehicles that can be recharged from a socket or a charger. Cars produced from 2016 onward can report battery faults randomly, regardless of mileage or time in use. In the initial production phase, the manufacturer fitted these cars with a 9.2 kWh battery, later replaced by a larger 12 kWh one. We most often carry out the battery repair together with a replacement using higher-capacity cells – that is, the newer 34Ah modules from the 12 kWh battery. Thanks to this, besides restored lifespan, the owner also gains around a 25% increase in electric-mode range. We also offer a repair by replacing damaged 26Ah blocks, which is the cheapest solution and is often chosen simply to make the vehicle drivable again.

Symptoms of damaged battery modules in your G30 530e include reduced range in electric mode; incorrect estimated-range readings; rapid acceleration in electric mode triggers a hybrid system error, or the car switches to combustion-engine mode. Complete disconnection of the electric system and inability to drive in that mode. Inability to charge from a socket, or charging that lasts only a very short time.
